Lead the future of digital medicines at HDFT
Are you an experienced clinical (Nursing) or pharmacy professional (Pharmacist or Pharmacy Technician) with a passion for digital transformation, medicines safety and improving patient care?
This is an exciting opportunity to join Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust as our Senior Digital Medicines Lead – EPMA, supporting the implementation of NerveCentre EPMA as part of the Trust’s strategic implementation of the wider NerveCentre Electronic Patient Record.
This high-profile role will put you at the heart of a major Trust-wide digital transformation programme. You will help shape how electronic prescribing and medicines administration is designed, implemented, embedded and optimised across inpatient, outpatient and day-case settings.
We are looking for a credible, motivated and forward-thinking individual who can bring together clinical insight, medicines governance, digital knowledge and strong leadership skills to support safe, effective and user-centred digital medicines workflows.
Main duties of the job
- Lead and coordinate agreed workstreams for the implementation, upgrade and optimisation of NerveCentre EPMA.
- Provide specialist digital medicines, clinical informatics and medicines governance leadership.
- Support safe system configuration, testing, validation, clinical sign-off and optimisation.
- Translate clinical and operational requirements into effective digital workflows and standard operating processes.
- Support clinical safety assurance, risk identification, mitigation and escalation.
- Use audit findings, incident trends, user feedback and performance data to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Chair and contribute to multidisciplinary meetings, working groups and project discussions.
- Develop and deliver training, guidance and communication materials for clinical, pharmacy, technical and operational users.
- Work collaboratively with pharmacy, medical, nursing, AHP, IT, informatics, operational and supplier teams.
Provide day-to-day leadership, supervision and line management to Digital Medicines Lead Technicians and/or members of the digital medicines implementation team.

Qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience
Essential
- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacist / Pharmacy Technician or registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council .
- Postgraduate qualification in leadership, clinical pharmacy, digital health, clinical informatics, quality improvement or equivalent evidence of practical application of expertise at this level.
- Lean for Leaders, quality improvement certification, or commitment to undertake a relevant programme of study.
- Significant experience in hospital pharmacy or pharmacy services, with substantial involvement in digital medicines, ePMA, EPR or clinical informatics.
- Experience supporting, delivering or leading clinical informatics initiatives relating to medicines safety, digital workflows and clinical governance.
- Experience of clinical governance, risk management, medicines safety, incident investigation and development of risk mitigation plans.
- Experience of chairing or leading multidisciplinary meetings, working groups or project discussions, ensuring clear actions, accountability and delivery.
- Excellent understanding of electronic prescribing and medicines administration systems and their impact on clinical practice, medicines safety and patient care.
- Strong clinical informatics and medicines governance skills, with attention to detail and a clear focus on patient safety.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to explain complex information clearly to a range of professional groups.
Desirable
- Formal training or certification in project or programme management, such as PRINCE2, Agile or equivalent.
- NHS leadership, digital leadership or clinical informatics qualification.
- Independent prescribing qualification, where professionally applicable.
- Experience working within a formal digital transformation programme or EPR/ePMA implementation project.
- Awareness of national digital medicines policy, guidance or best practice. Familiarity with benefits realisation approaches in digital transformation programmes.
