NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight is seeking a Senior Commissioning Manager for Acute and Specialised Care to join our team and lead strategic commissioning, redesign and change programmes. Working across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight the role is responsible for leading commissioning, redesign, transformation and associated change and improvement activities to improve the quality of, and access to, services for our population..

If you bring recent experience of designing, commissioning, and procuring services, analysing complex data and effectively managing contracts, this is an outstanding opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of people across our region.

Main duties of the job

You will analyse data and intelligence to inform commissioning projects and ensure services represent the best value and outcomes within the available resources, identifying opportunities to improve outcomes and experience, and deliver efficiencies. You will also have responsibility for developing and delivering commissioning activities throughout the whole commissioning cycle, including leading on procurement, market and contract management, service development and redesign. Along with recent experience leading service redesign, commissioning and contract management, you will have highly developed analytical, planning and organisational skills, and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications and experience

Essential

  • Educated to Masters level in relevant subject or equivalent level qualification or significant experience of working at a similar level in specialist area.
  • Programme/ project management qualification and/or management qualification, or equivalent level of experience.
  • Experience of working in a similar role with the NHS.
  • Experience of leading service development, redesign and change across organisations.
  • Experiencing of researching best practice and making recommendations to deliver optimal outcomes for all stakeholders.
  • Experience of managing and monitoring budgets, and working knowledge of financial processes.
  • Experience of designing, commissioning and procuring services, and of managing contracts.
  • Experience of planning and organising a broad range of complex activities, formulating and adjusting plans and strategies if required.
  • Experience of producing strategies and/or policies and/or plans.
  • Experience of line management and providing indirect management/ leadership of project teams, working groups or similar.

Analytical and problem solving skills

Essential

  • Good analytical skills with ability to analyse, interpret, challenge and present a range of complex information and data, and to develop a range of options.
  • Ability to draw qualitative and quantitative information from a range of services and present it in a clear and concise way.
  • Ability to effectively plan, analyse and resolve problems.
  • Ability to seek out, identify and implement opportunities for service improvement, to anticipate problems before they arise and offer appropriate solutions.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and ability to respond positively to sudden unexpected demands or changes.
