North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board is seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Commissioning Manager to join our Secondary Care Northern Alliance Team.

Reporting to the Head of Commissioning (Secondary Care Northern Alliance), the postholder will play a key role in supporting the commissioning, contracting and performance management of secondary care services across the Northern Alliance.

Main duties of the job

The role will be responsible for working closely with providers, clinical colleagues, and system partners to support the delivery of high-quality, safe and sustainable services that improve outcomes and reduce health inequalities for our population.  You will contribute to the effective management of commissioned services through robust contract and performance management arrangements, service review and redesign activity, and the implementation of strategic commissioning priorities. The postholder will support the monitoring of service quality, access, performance and finance, ensuring that commissioned services deliver value and meet the needs of population.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

• Be responsible for managing a portfolio of commissioned services and contracts relevant to the sectoral team.
• Use local knowledge of the sector and contractors, to inform effective commissioning of services.
• Enable the commissioning of transformation programmes.
• Develop effective working relationships across the three groups to ensure the implications of commissioning decision are appropriately reflected in contracts and agreements.
• Interpret and implement complex national guidance, ensuring local policies and guidelines deliver these as appropriate.
• Contribute to the development of service specifications and contribute to the development and redesign of care pathways, to ensure commissioned  services provide quality and value for money.
