At present, University Hospitals of North Midlands is unable to offer visa sponsorship for Band 2 to Band 4 roles, as these positions do not meet the minimum salary and skill thresholds required under UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) regulations.

In relation to Band 3 Senior Clinical Support Worker roles, we are currently able to recruit successfully from the domestic labour market and have a sufficient pool of suitably qualified and appointable candidates. As a result, visa sponsorship is not available for this role at this time. This position is kept under regular review and may change in the future should labour market conditions or service requirements alter.

The primary role of a Senior Clinical Support Worker is to assist, support and work in collaboration with the Registered Nurse and the wider multidisciplinary team; in order to provide a safe and holistic approach to person-centred care.

Main duties of the job

The Senior Clinical Support Worker should actively contribute to the health and well- being of patients, staff and service users and be able to communicate effectively with sensitivity and compassion. They should be able to work independently within their sphere of nursing while under the supervision of registered nurses. Band 3 Senior Clinical Support Workers should demonstrate a level of skill and understanding which enables them to undertake specific skills and tasks delegated by the registered nurse and in accordance with relevant procedures, guidelines and policies at UHNM.

  • Communicate appropriately with patients and visitors to the Ward or Department.
  • Always portraying a professional and respectful manner.
  • To receive patients, visitors and staff in a calm, friendly and efficient manner
  • Exchanges factual information with patients using reassurance, tact and empathy
  • Overcome barriers to understanding for example, dealing with patients with physical or mental disabilities.
  • Hold basic keyboard skills.
  • Dexterity to undertake nursing care procedures as appropriate.
  • Under direct or non-direct supervision of a Registered Nurse as deemed appropriate and will assist with all aspects of essential patient care.
  • Provision of personal care to patients.
  • Respects patient privacy and dignity at all times.

  • Taking Clinical Observations and Recording on Vitals/Paper
  • Venepuncture
  • Glucose Monitoring
  • Pregnancy Testing
  • Urine Analysis (Strip)
  • Taking Faecal Samples
  • Carry out 12 lead ECG
  • Observing patients for signs of agitation or distress (Clinical holding/Restraint)
  • Removal of Peripheral Cannula
  • Take Swabs (e.g. MRSA)
