Main duties of the job
We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Fellow in Diabetes & Endocrinology to join our expanding tertiary service at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust. This role is ideal for a motivated doctor with prior medical experience and an interest in diabetes and endocrinology who is keen to develop both clinical and service improvement skills in a highly supportive environment. You will join a forward‑thinking, collaborative multidisciplinary team recognised for delivering outstanding inpatient diabetes care and specialist endocrine services across a large regional population. This post offers a unique opportunity to contribute meaningfully to patient care across inpatient and outpatient settings, while benefiting from no on‑call commitments and excellent CV‑building opportunities, including involvement in audit, quality improvement, teaching and research. You will gain exposure to specialist MDTs, innovative service models and a strong culture of education, mentorship and continuous improvement.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
You will provide registrar‑level (ST3+) clinical support across inpatient and outpatient Diabetes & Endocrinology services, including participation in ward rounds, management of inpatient referrals, and attendance at general and specialist clinics and multidisciplinary team meetings, alongside opportunities to contribute to endocrine dynamic testing and tertiary subspecialty services. You will work closely within a well‑established multidisciplinary team to support high‑quality patient care, contribute to service development and integration, and take an active role in education and training of junior colleagues and wider clinical staff. In addition, you will be expected to engage in audit, quality improvement, teaching and research activities, supporting both personal professional development and delivery of excellence within the wider Diabetes & Endocrinology service.

- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- GMC registration with a licence to practise
- Appropriate knowledge base, and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems

- MRCP or equivalent
- At least 3 years medical experience since qualification
- NHS experience
