Main duties of the job

The Security Team provides a comprehensive security service across the main hospital site at Southend, operating in all weather conditions.

As part of this front-line service, you’ll need to be polite, helpful, and tactful, while also being firm and able to remain calm under pressure. This is a highly visible role involving regular contact with staff, visitors, and members of the public.

If successful, you will:

Respond promptly to security incidents

Ensure emergency access points remain clear

Assist with maintaining a safe and secure environment

Answer general enquiries from patients and visitors

Strong communication skills and a flexible, professional approach are essential to succeed in this role.

Essential

  • GCSE or Equivalent

Desirable

  • Security SIA license

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience of working as a security officer in a complex and varied organisation.
  • Working Knowledge of CCTV and Access Control Systems
  • Understanding of principles of criminal law (PACE)

Desirable

  • Experience with working with other systems, i.e panic alarms
  • Knowledge of DOLS and MCA framework
  • Previous NHS Experience
