Job summary

Our Lead Nurse for Safer Staffing will provide strategic leadership for nursing and midwifery workforce planning across Health & Care Jersey, ensuring staffing decisions are evidence-based, aligned to patient need and support the delivery of safe, high-quality and sustainable care.

In this influential role, you will lead the organisation's safer staffing agenda, acting as the professional lead for workforce assurance, nursing establishment reviews, skill mix optimisation, workforce productivity and the Safer Nursing Care Tool (SNCT) programme. Working closely with clinical, operational, workforce, finance and quality leaders, you will use workforce, acuity and quality data to shape staffing models, support service transformation and provide assurance that the right people are in the right place at the right time.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will provide professional and operational leadership and be accountable for the management of nursing and midwifery staff teams. The role will be responsible and accountable for ensuring the highest standard of clinical care is provided within the wards, departments, and services for which they are responsible.

  • Experience in undertaking research and applying to practice.
  • Significant post qualification working experience in order to have
  • developed consolidated practice to lead the staff teams.
  • Experience of working in an autonomous nursing/midwifery role.
  • Experience of working at a senior clinical level within a managerial role.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing change effectively.
  • Significant management, human resource and operational
  • experience.
  • Experience of designing and delivering training to colleagues at all
  • levels

Qualifications

Essential

  • Current NMC registered with the appropriate specialist qualification

  • Masters degree in Health related subject or equivalent level of experience.
