Job overview
Are you a passionate paediatric nurse with a commitment to safeguarding and improving outcomes for children and young people? We have an opportunity to join our dedicated Safeguarding Team as a Paediatric Safeguarding Liaison Nurse, playing a vital role in supporting vulnerable children and families across our services.
Acting as a key link between acute hospital services and community partners, you will help ensure timely and effective information sharing to support the early identification of need, safeguarding concerns and appropriate intervention. You will review attendances within the Emergency Department and other unscheduled care settings, identifying potential concerns and working closely with community agencies to promote the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary safeguarding team, you will facilitate continuity of care, strengthen multi-agency collaboration and help children receive coordinated, holistic and timely support. You will work closely with healthcare professionals, social care, mental health services and community teams, providing expert advice and guidance where required.
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the lives of children, young people and their families while contributing to the delivery of high-quality safeguarding services. If you are a motivated paediatric nurse with excellent communication skills and a passion for safeguarding, we would love to hear from you.
Main duties of the job
Act as a visible role model, demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills while promoting high standards of care and safeguarding for children and young people.
Serve as the primary point of contact between paediatric hospital services and community 0–19 services, ensuring effective partnership working across care settings.
Provide a single point of access to community services for hospital teams, facilitating timely referrals and coordinated care.
Ensure relevant clinical information is shared promptly and accurately with community services to support continuity of care and effective care planning.
Work closely with paediatric leads and safeguarding teams to ensure robust systems are in place for communicating emergency department and unscheduled care attendances to GPs through the paediatric discharge process.
Maintain a high-quality communication pathway that safeguards children and young people and supports seamless transitions between acute, community and universal health services.
Interpret and communicate complex paediatric information to community practitioners, enabling informed decision-making and coordinated care management.
Promote understanding of the roles of Health Visitors, School Nurses, GPs, Looked After Children (LAC) Nurses and Community Nurses, while ensuring information sharing is timely, appropriate and compliant with safeguarding and information governance requirements.
