Chartwell Unit is based at Maidstone Hospital and is an eight-chair unit specialising in the care of patients with haematology malignancies and other blood disorders. The unit delivers systemic anti-cancer therapies (SACT), alongside supportive care and blood product support for patients undergoing chemotherapy.
Applicants must hold a recognised SACT qualification and a valid UKOMS passport. They will demonstrate a hign level of clinical expertise in the safe delivery of SACT. The post holder will be an experienced and competent practitioner demonstrating effective leadership skills and the ability to provide safe, evidenced and patient centred care in line with NHS policies and guidelines .
Main duties of the job
- Ensure the provision of a high standard of care to all service users using the systematic approach to individualised care, using the model appropriate to the clinical area.
- To maintain a high level of competent practice within the Scope of Professional Practice.
- In conjunction with the CNS haematology team/Lord North , to ensure effective and continual updating / increased professional competence.
- To work within the framework of the NMC Code of Professional Conduct at all times.Provide information and advice to patients and their carers on haematology treatments
- Apply, disseminate and encourage research- based practice in relation to care of patients within the Unit.
- Adhere to the Data Protection Act, Health and Safety at Work Act and have knowledge of the Trusts Grievance and Disciplinary Policies.
- Advise and support other staff appropriately.Be a fundamental member and collaborate with other disciplines in ensuring a system that enhances and maintains good relationships and channels of communication within the department.
- Maintain responsibility for the safe custody, checking, witnessing and recording of all drugs in accordance with the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells Trust policy.

All successful applicants will be required to complete our corporate trust induction once a start date had been agreed.
Following your corporate induction you will be expected to attend the Trust’s 2-week Induction Programme for RNs, NAs, RMs, ODPs and Paramedics. The programme is full-time (please email [email protected] if this is problematic) and will involve travel to both Trust sites. The programme includes supernumerary shifts in the clinical area, classroom-based sessions and e-learning.
