Job summary
Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital NHS Foundation Trustis inviting applications for an enthusiastic and motivated Rotational Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our dynamic and friendly therapy team.
This is an exciting opportunity to develop specialist skills across a range of cardiothoracic and respiratory areas within one of the UK's leading specialist hospitals.
About the Role
Our Band 6 rotational programme offers nine-month rotations across key clinical areas, including:
- Medicals
- Cystic Fibrosis
- Pulmonary Rehabilitation
- Complex Rehabilitation
- Surgery and Critical Care
These rotations provide excellent exposure to specialist cardiovascular and respiratory physiotherapy, supported by highly skilled senior clinicians.
Main duties of the job
The role is ideally suited to individuals with a strong interest in cardiothoracic and respiratory therapy. Previous experience in these areas is desirable but not essential. Applicants should demonstrate the ability to supervise more junior staff and contribute to service development.
We warmly welcome experienced Band 5 physiotherapists seeking progression. You will receive full support, structured development, and competency-based training to help you thrive in a Band 6 role.

Job responsibilities
Core service hours are MondayFriday, 8am4pm, however therapies deliver a7day service rota, with respiratory physio's working aroundone weekend day every four weeks as part of contracted hours.
Participation in the emergency respiratory oncall service and late respiratory service (full training provided) is also required.

Essential
- Ability to empathise and reassure
- An ability to work as part of the MDT and communicate appropriately with all grades of staff.
- Evidence of presentation and teaching skills within a healthcare environment
Desirable
- Evidence of presenting to a mixed audience e.g. doctors, nursing staff and other AHP's

Knowledge & Experience
Essential
- Evidence of recent and relevant CPD including attendance at courses relevant to respiratory +/or stroke and rehabilitation physiotherapy
- Good clinical reasoning skills based on evidence and current research
- Evidence of attendance at mandatory training
- Demonstrate a good knowledge of the MDT and their differing contributions to patient care
- Experience of supervising staff
- NHS or equivalent clinical experience
Desirable
- Good IM & T Skills
- Knowledge of airway clearance techniques such as AD, PEP, Acapella, Flutter, NIV
Qualifications & Education
Essential
- Diploma/Degree/MSc in Physiotherapy
- HCPC Registration
Desirable
- Membership of relevant clinical interest group
