The jobholder will be responsible to the Head of Residential, Day Care & Supporting People Services for the delivery of a high quality service in a Residential Home for Older People. He/she will be responsible for the day to day delivery of a high quality Residential Care Service in compliance with the DHSS Minimum Residential Care Services Standards and RQIA Regulations. He/She will be required to contribute to and participate in the continuing modernisation service improvement and development of the service in line with Southern Trust Priorities for Older People. He/she will provide clear leadership to staff and will be responsible for effective financial management and the efficient use of all resources in the home.
The jobholder will work in partnership with the Community Care Teams, including Integrated Care Teams, Intermediate Care Team and Memory Services Team in ensuring there is joint working arrangements with key staff to ensure a collaborative, multi-disciplinary approach to ensure that the needs of all residents and their carers are at the core of service delivery.
Directly manage the residential care staff team in line with the principles and model for health and social care contained in the Bengoa Report and Health and Wellbeing 2026: Delivering Together.
Delegate responsibility and authority to appropriate staff to ensure effective decision making whilst retaining responsibility and accountability to the Head of Service for results and deployment of staff resources.
To effectively manage delegated budgets under his/her control.
To ensure compliance with regulatory body requirements and the achievement of care and support standards
Ensures the services complies with the requisite controls assurance standards with particular reference to medicines management, environmental cleanliness, infection control and management of medical devices.
Be proactive in having monitoring systems in place to ensure safe practice within the residential home and across the service.
To ensure all care and support staff are supervised and appraised in accordance with Trust policies and procedures. To encourage and empower their team to achieve their goals and reach their full potential through regular supportive conversations and shared decision making.
To promote staff development in keeping with changing client profile and be proactive in the provision and delivery of training programmes.
To develop and maintain a highly motivated, skilled and knowledgeable workforce.
