Job overview

An exciting position has arisen to work as part of the Research &  Department as a Research Contracts & Quality Officer. The post holder will work within the Commercial Research Delivery Centre (CRDC) and alongside the Finance Team providing contract checks and support, income flow, data quality checks, assurance, data support and education.

The post holder will work alongside the Research Delivery Manager and will be responsible for setting up and maintaining a transparent finance system that aligns with current finance processes to provide support within RCHT and across the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly to various partners. To enable a consistent approach to income generation, and the recording, monitoring and distribution of finances across the system.

Working within the team to provide data quality assurance, data completion, and to work as a flexible resource to clincal teams providing support to facilitate the delivery of the Quality Finance and Management System for research studies at RCHT. Part of this role will be working on finance reconciliation and to support the delivery of education around lessons learnt.

Main duties of the job

This role is key to ensuring clinical research contracts are checked and optimised to maximise income flow, and that data is complete, accurate and relevant by carrying out quality checks on the clinical activity undertaken by the research delivery teams.

In addition this role will conduct quality checks to ensure that all clinical appointments are captured on EDGE (internal research database). This role will also include working with the Research Delivery Manager and Finance Management Accountant on finance reconciliation, ensuring that all studies are recorded accurately and invoiced correctly.

This position will require the ability to work autonomously and develop good working relationships with research staff in all departments and specialities at RCHT The post holder will have analytical skills with excellent attention to detail and have strong organisational, and time management skills.

A key aspect of the role is adaptability and the ability to prioritise their workload to meet tight deadlines. A passion for quality improvement as well as understanding of the research study pathway is key to this role.

Experience

Essential

  • Data management or relevant clinical research experience
  • Excellent knowledge and experience of using computerised data systems
  • Experience of working with data in relation to finance reconciliation and contract review
  • Proven experience of data management inc. Spreadsheet management
  • Experience of working to tight deadline
  • NHS experience

Desirable

  • Working knowledge of Good Clinical Practice training
  • Experience of working in a research environment
  • Quality Assurance experience
  • Project Management experience
  • Experience of using Clinical Trial Databases such as Edge

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to diploma level/HNC or equivalent knowledge of administrative procedures demonstrating project management, basis analysis and data management
  • Intermediate IT Qualifications (eg ECDL or equivalent experience)
  • Good Clinical Practice certificate or willingness to undertake

Desirable

  • Quality Assurance, Quality improvement or monitoring or willingness to undertake training

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills across a variety of grades
  • Able to work to a high standard of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Adaptable and willing to take a flexible approach to achieving work objectives
