Various part-time vacancies available for an experienced Registered Nurse within our busy Outpatient Department, based at Glangwili General Hospital, Carmarthen.
Outpatients is the front door to the patient’s journey into planned health care and the exit to successful health management. Outpatient services offers nursing a variety of specialities to gain and consolidate clinical skill and experience and can be a good starting point for career steering or opportunities to explore future specialist roles in clinical specialities with direct clinical exposure. Outpatient services are committed to the Heath Boards values and prides itself in providing a positive patient experience in how we value our patients in the communities we work within.
Previous outpatient nursing would be advantageous. Training will be provided to successful candidates to enable effective working practices to support the patient experience, patient safety and supporting our colleagues who work within the outpatient setting.
Main duties of the job
Outpatients is a diverse, multidisciplinary environment that requires flexible and adaptable skills, an aptitude to learn and a motivation to develop your own skills. We cover a wide range of specialities including Vascular, Orthopaedics and Ear, Nose and Throat clinics.
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, organised and committed to give high quality nursing care and be able to work autonomously as well as part of a team. You will consistently ensure that a patient’s privacy, dignity and psychological well-being is always maintained and that the care given is patient centred. You need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. We need individuals who are forward thinking, well organised with a positive attitude towards flexibility and change.
We are a proactive department and support medical students, student nurses, apprentices, work placement and HCSW development. As a qualified nurse within the department, you will act as both a Practice Assessor and/or a Practice Supervisor. We recognise the importance of education in maintaining a sustainable workforce and expect our staff to lead by example to inspire the future generation of workforce.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post. Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
