An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nurse to join the Outpatients team at the internationally renowned St Andrew’s Centre for Plastic Surgery at Broomfield Hospital.

As the regional hub for Plastic Surgery services, we provide specialist care across a network of clinics. Working within a busy multidisciplinary team, you will support Consultants during outpatient clinics and contribute to services within the Minor Operations Theatre, nurse-led dressing clinics, and hand clinics. Opportunities to work across satellite clinic locations may also be available.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated nurse who enjoys working in a fast-paced, specialist environment. An interest in Plastic Surgery and wound care is essential, along with excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Due to cross-site working, a full driving licence and access to transport are required.

Main duties of the job

Assess, plan implement and evaluate holistic, high quality and individualised care which respect patients dignity and personal beliefs.

Maintain a safe working environment for patients, visitors and staff.

Maintain and promote effective communication within the care team and with colleagues, patients, relatives and visitors.

Act as a mentor to students and newly qualified staff, including teaching and assessing within their realm of confidence, upholding the philosophy of evidence based practice.

Maintain a professional profile and develop skills, knowledge and competencies adhering to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and trust policies and procedures.

To act as patient advocate

To cover out-lying clinics at other sites.

Essential

  • Current NMC Registration
  • RN/RNC/RSCN
  • Evidence of recent Continuous Professional Development

Desirable

  • Safe guarding level 3

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Recent Experience of working in an acute paediatric setting
  • Aware of current Paediatrc/ Adult issues/Governance
  • Recognising a Vulnerable Adult/child/family and escalating to appropriately
  • Able to demonstrate MDT working

Desirable

  • Expericence of working in Childrens Surgery
