Are you currently employed at South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust (STSFT) and have recently achieved NMC registration as a Registered Nurse, or are you a student nurse due to qualify in 2026 who has completed a Clinical Management placement at STSFT? At STSFT we are looking to appoint nurses who are enthusiastic and motivated, who can demonstrate a caring and compassionate attitude, who have a desire to provide high quality, effective and efficient patient care.
The successful candidate must work well in a team and be able to communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, and relatives/carers. You will be required to be receptive to change, dynamic and demonstrate active assistance and support when working as part of a team.
If you are a new registrant, you will be supported through our 12-month multi-professional preceptorship programme, by our Preceptorship Lead and in clinical practice by an allocated and experienced clinical practitioner (a preceptor). We will provide guidance, support, and feedback throughout your transitional period, while you develop the necessary knowledge and skills in becoming a confident and competent practitioner.
Main duties of the job
As part of the role the successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care for patients designated to their care. They will be expected to supervise non-registered staff as stipulated by the NMC under the requirements of the delegation and always work to the NMC code and Trust policies and procedures.
They will be expected to provide effective leadership and assist with the management and organisation of the ward/department in the absence of the ward manager or junior sister / charge nurse, whilst complying with the Trusts vision, values and behavioural compact.
Interviews will take place w/c 17th August. Shortlisted candidates must be available to attend a face-to-face interview.

- Experience of working in an acute hospital or community healthcare setting
- A Registered Adult Nurse who has previously been employed by STSFT, or a student nurse due to qualify in 2026 who has successfully completed a Clinical Management Placement within STSFT during the preceding 12 months.

- Recent experience of working as a registered nurse
Qualifications
Essential
- Current NMC Registration (Level 1 adult nurse) or evidence of qualification if newly qualified
- Diploma in health related study or equivalent appropriate qualification

- Degree in nursing studies or healthcare related subject (UK equivalent)
- Mentorship certificate/Practice Assessor training or demonstrable equivalent experience
