Main duties of the job
- Be responsible for establishing and maintaining effective communication with patients, relatives and carers to always ensure their involvement in the decisions about treatment, planning and the delivery of their care including discharge planning
- Practice in a compassionate, respectful way, maintaining dignity and wellbeing and communicating effectively and collaboratively within the multi-disciplinary team whilst delivering high quality essential care to all patients.
- Be accountable for performing regular assessments on patient needs, to plan, implement and evaluate care delivery and be adaptable to changing health care requirements.
- Recognise own limitations, seek help appropriately and be responsible and accountable for safe, person-centered, evidence-based nursing practice

Qualifications
Essential
- RSCN / RN Child Diploma
- Achievement of teaching and assessing qualification 998 / 997 / mentorship or equivalent or date for this to be undertaken
- All newly qualified staff must be willing to complete the trust preceptorship programme
Desirable
- Post-registration qualification or evidence of further study or working towards Relevant speciality qualification may be required for certain practice areas (critical care)
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- Understanding of quality and change in the clinical setting.
- Basic knowledge of professional and NHS issues
- Basic IT skills in word processing
Desirable
- Willingness to develop speciality knowledge
