Job summary
Optegra has an exciting new job opportunity for an experienced Healthcare Technician or HCA (Band 3) with ward or theatre experience, ideally gained in Ophthalmology, to join our amazing and dedicated regional team on a full time basis. This role covers four hospitals across the region Birmingham, Uttoxeter, Nottingham, and Leicester, and requires regular travel between sites. This is a great opportunity to join a forward-thinking business and benefit from our fantastic fully funded training and development programs. We would require you to work 4 long days a week (Monday-Thursday).
Main duties of the job
As part of a multi-disciplinary team, and in alignment with Optegra values, ensure a comprehensive level of care provision to all ophthalmic patients, their relatives, or carers, across clinical and non-clinical care pathways, with an emphasis on quality patient care across all hospitals within the region.
Work alongside other clinical team members and optometrists for outpatient consultations and pre assessment of patients.

Job responsibilities
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care throughout their visit to Optegra.
- Perform diagnostic testing on patients, including Biometry, OCT, A-Scan, Visual fields, Pentacam, VA, IOP, and Topography.
- Support patients on surgery days, providing pre- and post-operative care and ensuring effective communication.
- Demonstrate empathy and sensitivity when addressing patients and their relatives concerns, ensuring a -person centred approach.
- Provide basic health promotion advice related to ophthalmic surgery.
- Assist in the operating theatre, supporting the entire patient pathway.
- To support the control of cross-infection by adhering to the Hospital's Uniform Policy, maintaining a clean working environment, and following decontamination and sterilization procedures in accordance with the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) policy. Follow protocols for documenting and reporting accidents or incidents.
