West Bridgford Medical Centre is a busy and friendly GP practice providing high-quality care to our patients. We are seeking a motivated and reliable Reception/Administration Assistant to join our supportive team.
Main duties of the job
To ensure the reception and administrative functions of the practice run smoothly, providing a high level of service to patients, doctors, nurses, and the wider practice team.
The post holder will be responsible for answering telephone calls, booking appointments, registering new and temporary patients, dealing with prescription requests and queries, giving out results in line with practice protocols, arranging ambulance transport and home visits, greeting and directing patients, handing out prescriptions, collecting payments for non-NHS services, managing general enquiries and complaints, filing and retrieving patient records, inputting and extracting information from the practice computer system, supporting admin tasks such as recalls and cytology, maintaining confidentiality and security, observing health and safety procedures, keeping reception and waiting areas tidy, and communicating effectively with patients and team members. Other reasonable duties may be required.
About us
We are looking for someone with excellent communication and customer service skills, good organisational ability, basic IT skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure while maintaining confidentiality. Experience in a GP practice or healthcare setting is desirable.

Duties and Responsibilities
Telephone Duties

Making appointments

Taking requests for prescriptions from housebound patients

Giving out results

Ambulance transport bookings for on the day service
