Whitchurch Medical Centre are looking to recruit a part time receptionists to work within our friendly and organised practice. We are a busy practice with11,000 patients.
Computer literacy skills are essential, preferably with previous experience in primary care.
The successful candidates must be well organized, with excellent communication skills to deal with people in a polite and sensitive manner and have the ability to work as part of a team.
You will be part of our front of house team who are the first contact for our patients as well as undertaking daily admin tasks and responsibilities. This is a varied, rewarding and challenging role, which will suit people who are highly motivated and can cope with a demanding environment and lots of patient contact both face to face and on the telephone
Hours: Part time30 hours weekly, but must be available to cover for colleagues during holidays and sickness.

The Practice is situated in Whitchurch and it benefits from a range of shops and restaurants locally. Whitchurch Medical Centres team comprises of 5 GP Partners, and 5 GP assistants, 3 Practice Nurses, 2 Healthcare Assistants and is supported by a highly effective and friendly admin and reception team. We are proud to be a research ready, teaching practice for medical and nursing students as well as a training practice.

Job responsibilities
Role description:
The receptionist will deal with patient queries providing an excellent level of customer care whilst providing a strong administrative presence within the team. This role is diverse, covering many aspects of the business.
The successful candidate must have;
Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word and the use of email.
Excellent customer service
Duties
Assist in the opening/closing of the surgery.
Stock consultation rooms with administrative supplies.
General reception duties booking/cancelling appointments, handing out repeat prescriptions/completed patient forms. Assisting patients/visitors with their queries in person and via the telephone. Directing patients to the correct consultation room.
Dealing with patients prescriptions.
Ensuring patient messages and waiting areas throughout the practice are up to date and current.
Process incoming mail and distributing it accordingly.
Providing general administrative support (Fax/Photocopying/lamination) to all members of staff.
Preparing patient blood forms for the following days clinics.
Recalling patients for follow up appointments.
Retrieval and filing of paper medical notes.
Registering of new patients on the patient database.
Updating patient demographic/NHS number on the patient database
Collecting and processing electronic test results.
Deduction of patients from the patient database.
Ordering of medical/administrative stationary.
Scanning of patients letters and distributing them accordingly.
