Job overview

The physiological investigations teams (Cardiac & Respiratory) deliver services across 2 acute departments and Doddington community hospital, which support rural areas, with a plan to deliver services from the purpose-built Peterborough Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC), opening in the Autumn of 2026. Our team comprises of accredited staff and highly specialised physiologists, as part of the administrative team supporting the team you will be responsible for the day to day allocation of appointments and maintenance of accurate patient records. They will provide a friendly, reliable, easily accessible enquiry system for patients adhering to national guidance for booking and choice.  The post holder will maybe required to work across all sites within North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust.  The post holder will preferably have experience of working within a diagnostic team or hold relevant qualifications to NVQ level II or above, or equivalent.

Main duties of the job

  • To book appointments for Cardiology/Respiratory Diagnostic tests and Procedures undertaken within the department, adhering to both 6 week diagnostic and 18 week RTT guidelines
  • To monitor and maintain diagnostic waiting lists.
  • To provide administrative support for the Cardiac / Respiratory Investigations Department
  • To support the smooth running of the main reception area in Cardiac / Respiratory Investigations Department (CID)
  • To provide cover for the Lead Administrator as required
  • To support the smooth running of the main reception area in Cardiac Investigations Department (CID) and Respiratory Investigations Department (RID)

Essential

  • Can demonstrate good standards of written and verbal communication, at all levels

Aptitudes

Essential

  • Flexible and responsive to change and work across site if needed.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed
  • Able to deal tactfully in sensitive situations

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of supervision of Administration/Secretarial Staff
  • Previous experience and/or can demonstrate an overall understanding patient pathways
  • Systems administration experience

Desirable

  • Experience of working in the NHS in an administration role
  • Experience of using PAS, databases, e-track Anglia Ice, MS office and Excel Spreadsheets

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to GCSE level in English Language and Maths or equivalent
  • ECDL or equivalent experience

Desirable

  • NVQ 3 Business and Administration or equivalent experience
