An exciting opportunity has become available for a band 3 Full time (37.5 hours) Radiology Assistant Coordinator within the Imaging department. This post is fixed hours and days ( Monday to Friday 8.30am-4.30pm).
The role involves being part of the multi disciplinary team, whom provide high standards of patient care to our in patients and outpatients within the Trust. The post hold will assist the with booking of inpatients ultrasounds lists ensuring service delivery is prompt and effective. They will also support the radiology assistants band 2 throughout the department with their rosters and ensuring safe skill mix within the clinical areas for Radiology, Nuclear Medicine and Ultrasound.
Main duties of the job
The role involves liaising with Sonographers/Radiographers/ Radiologists and ward areas to ensure inpatients ultrasounds are booked according to urgency in appropriate scan slots, to ensure ultrasound scan capacity is optimised. Booking outpatient appointments in accordance with booking templates (when required) to support the departmental booking team and to communicate effectively with patients any necessary preparation prior to their appointment.
The role involves supporting the radiology assistant team band 2's and undertake daily management of their roster. Compiling the radiology assistant roster ensuring this is collated in a timely manner as per Trust standards, taking into account skill mix in each of the clinical areas supported by the radiology assistant team. To actively assist the lead nurse with radiology assistants annual leave requests and undertake the assignment of bank duties on the Optima system in line with Trust practices. To assist in the induction process for new radiology assistants, and arrange the training for the new radiology assistants within all the clinical areas within Radiology, Nuclear Medicine and Ultrasound

Essential
- GCSE Maths C / 4 or above
- GCSE English Language C/ 4 or above
- IT qualification
- NVQ level 3 or alternative (health care cerficate)
Desirable
- Coaching/ management qualifications
NHS experience
Essential
- worked for NHS or Private UK healthcare sector
Desirable
- Worked within radiology department previously in any role
- Worked within an acute setting (Surgery, AE) that could support the role
Radiation knowledge
Essential
- Knowledge of IRMER & IRR and the concepts
Desirable
- Undertaken formal radiation training
Relevant experience
Essential
- Previous experience as a Radiology Assistant or HCA
- Previous experience of coaching or managing staff in a previous role
- Previous experience working with Radiology computer systems (CRIS, PACS, Sectra)
- Previous experience of managing/collating rosters
Desirable
- Clerical training or experience
- IT knowledge of Trust computer systems e.g. allscripts
