The Neurodevelopmental Specialist leads the locality based Neurodevelopmental Team in the provision of specialist community based assessment and treatment packages, for children and young people, and their families suffering from a wide range of Neurodevelopmental differences. The Neurodevelopmental Specialist / Team Lead provides specialist expertise (assessment/ therapy/ audit /consultation) - internally and externally, from a theoretical underpinning, related to the specialist area, to all health professionals, and other partner agencies. The Neurodevelopmental Specialist / Team Lead will have responsibility for the clinical management and leadership of Neurodevelopmental team in Specialist Children’s Services within multi-disciplinary teams. The post holder will support the Neurodevelopmental Implementation Lead in managing the effective deployment of the clinical resource within the team and supporting functions such as absence management. They will actively facilitate effective communication internally and externally to the team and also integration between health, education and social services. Responsibility for implementing clinical governance activity which will include the monitoring of standards, responding to complaints, staff support, learning, development, clinical supervision, and the implementation of policy and clinical guidelines. The post holder will also actively contribute to multi-disciplinary/agency clinical governance activity and may become involved in agreed pieces of work that are out with their traditional sphere of practice. This role is one of which might be recognised as the Neurodevelopmental Specialist / Team Lead for the Neurodevelopmental Team. The post holder will be expected to cover in the absence of the Neurodevelopmental Implementation Lead and act on their behalf.
