Main duties of the job
About the Role
This is a high-impact senior leadership position at the heart of Radiology. You will:
- Lead and develop Radiography and Diagnostics services across the Trust
- Champion innovation, service transformation, and continuous improvement
- Drive high-quality, patient-centred care and safety
- Provide professional leadership and a strong voice for radiographers locally and across the ICS
- Oversee performance, governance, workforce strategy, and financial stewardship
- Act as the Trust’s lead for radiation protection and IR(ME)R compliance
- Working closely with senior clinical and operational leaders, you’ll ensure our services remain high-performing, sustainable, and forward-looking, delivering outstanding care every day.

- HCPC registration and a degree in Radiography
- Significant experience leading Radiology services and driving transformation
- Strong knowledge of clinical standards, governance, and NHS policy
- Proven ability to lead teams through change and deliver performance
- Excellent communication, influencing, and strategic thinking skills
- You’ll be passionate about developing people, improving services, and creating a culture where staff feel empowered, supported, and engaged.

Knowledge
Essential
- Detailed knowledge of legislation and local and national policy framework relating to the delivery of Radiology services
- Detailed knowledge/awareness of relevant clinical standards and guidelines relating to Radiology.
- Ability to lead and support staff and teams through change
Desirable
- Ability to influence, motivate and empower staff and teams
- Detailed knowledge of lean management and efficiency models
Experience
Essential
- Involvement with professional initiatives at a regional or national level
- Significant experience of leading and managing Radiology services.
- Quality and risk management programmes planning
- Experience of leading programmes of change
Desirable
- Experience of managing insourcing and outsourcing contracts
- Managing a budget
Qualifications
Essential
- Diploma / Degree in Radiography.
- HCPC registered Allied Health Profession
- Post-graduate leadership or management qualification or equivalent experience
- Master’s Degree/working towards / evidence of study at equivalent level / equivalent experience.
