We are delighted to offer a fixed-term or secondment opportunity for an experienced Band 8b Principal Clinical Psychologist to join our Older Adult Inpatient Psychology Service.

Based at Atherleigh Park Hospital, Leigh, this exciting role combines clinical leadership within our Older Adult inpatient ward (Golborne Unit) with opportunities to influence and develop psychologically informed care across the wider inpatient pathway. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the continued development of inpatient psychological provision while working collaboratively with colleagues to enhance the experience and outcomes of older adults accessing acute mental health services.

This post has arisen as maternity leave cover and offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced clinician to further develop leadership, service development and quality improvement skills within a supportive and innovative psychology service. Main duties of the job

You will join a passionate, welcoming and highly skilled Older Adult Inpatient and Urgent Care Psychology team, working alongside multidisciplinary colleagues to embed psychologically informed and formulation-led approaches to care. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to the development of new pathways, identify and respond to areas of unmet need for older adults experiencing mental health crisis, and lead on service improvement initiatives that enhance care across the pathway.

The successful applicant will receive support from the Professional Psychology Lead for Older Adult Inpatient Services and will be part of a wider network of psychologists working across Older Adult Acute Services. You will also work closely with an Assistant Psychologist on the ward and contribute to the supervision, development and growth of psychological practice within the service.
