We have a wonderful opportunity to join our Primary Care Mental Health Services in East and North Hertfordshire as an Operational Manager on a substantive basis.

The role provides opportunity for you to develop your management skills and be part of the development of new integrated ways of working with primary care colleagues. The increased provision of mental health services for primary care is a key part of community mental health transformation and this role will give you the opportunity to lead innovation. We are looking for fresh thinking and creative approaches that result in good outcomes for service users.

Main duties of the job

You will work within the HPFT Adult Community Leadership team to ensure the effective coordination and operational delivery of HPFT Primary Care Mental Health Services input in primary care networks in East and North Hertfordshire. You will have consolidated your experience of working with adults experiecing mental ill health, with experience of line managing and supervising staff, and working with clinicians and multi-disciplinary teams to achieve service improvement.

You will have a passion for excellent primary care based mental health services, and the difference they can make to service users and their carers.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Responsible for the provision of quality care within a complex range of health and social care services. Accountable for the effective operational management of all care pathways. Manage and monitor capacity on a day-to-day basis, ensuring effective escalation arrangements are in place. Manage the development and delivery of team health promotion and prevention, working closely with other agencies. Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements and implement relevant assurance systems to demonstrate compliance for their service

  • Management experience within the NHS
  • Experience of engaging service users/ carers in service planning/improvement.
  • Knowledge of National policy and standards of governance
  • Knowledge of NHS and local Government strategies, policies, and plans
  • Experience of planning and implementing service change.
  • Experience of working with clinicians and multi professional teams in achieving service improvement.
  • Evidence of achieving targets and objectives within a challenging environment.
  • Able to organise own workload and that of the team to meet objectives and operate effectively.

KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • First degree or equivalent and professional qualification in a relevant area of health or social care
  • Evidence of continuous professional and management development showing a combination of short courses, structured self-study or formal management courses
