We are seeking a reliable, organised, and detail-focused individual to join the Prescription Team at Hereford Medical Group.The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality administrative support, ensuring accuracy in their work, maintaining confidentiality, and contributing to the smooth running of day-to-day operations. The ideal applicant will possess excellent communication skills, strong organisational abilities, and the capacity to manage multiple tasks effectively in a busy environment.
Working Hours : 37.5 Hours
- Monday 08:00 - 12:00 , 12:30 - 16:00 (30 mins lunch)
- Tuesday08:00 - 12:00 , 12:30 - 16:00 (30 mins lunch)
- Wednesday09:30 - 13:00 , 14:00 - 18:00 (1 Hour lunch)
- Thursday 08:00 - 12:00 , 12:30 - 16:00 (30 mins lunch)
- Friday 08:00 - 12:00 , 12:30 - 16:00 (30 mins lunch)
Main duties of the job
To act as a prescription clerk, dealing with receiving requests from patients and/or representatives and allied professionals for prescriptions to fulfil medication requirements. Requests will be channelled via various sources ( e-mail, on-line). Ensuring patients are up to date with reviews and assisting and directing patients in booking the appropriate appointments to ensure their care is ongoing and that their health is reviewed at the appropriate time and with the appropriate clinical follow-up. A courteous and helpful manner must be maintained at all times.
The prescription clerk team at Hereford Medical Group carry out a variety of duties and staff workin in prescriptions will, after a period of training, be expected to have a range of skills.
- An understanding of online patient access services
- The ability to liaise with patients and use the Emis appointment diary to book reviews
- General knowledge of electronic prescribing services and electronic repeat dispensing -eRD
- Use of the NHS EPS Prescription Tracker Portal
- Script share to GPs
- Telephone enquiries

- Previous experience in a healthcare or pharmacy environment.
- Experience of dealing with queries.
- Customer Service experience.

- Experience of working in a GP practice or other primary care environment.
- Experience in handling prescriptions and understanding of the prescription process.
- Experience with electronic patient records and prescription systems.
Qualifications

- A good standard of general education, including:
- GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Maths at 4 or above.
