Job summary

Southend Medical Centre is looking for a qualified practice nurse, with experience in primary care,to join us to work as a registered practice nurse, on a part-time basis. Ideally, we are looking for 24 hours, over 3 days, on a Monday, Thursday and Friday, however, hours and shift pattern are negotiable for the right candidate.

Main duties of the job

Main duties/expectations include:

  • supporting and facilitating clinical care, in a holistic and proactive manner, to patients registered at the practice.
  • maintaining a high, professional standard of nursing care in adherence to all practice protocols and policies.
  • providing nursing assistance to all members of our healthcare team
  • it is essential that the practice nurse works within their own level of competency and expands their role in accordance with practice requirements and their own scope of practice.
  • working well in a team, being kind and compassionate towards our patients and being invested in your role and the practice team.

Person specification

It is ESSENTIAL that you have the following skills and qualifications:

Essential

  • Foundation degree as a Registered Nurse and NMC registration
  • Experience of working in a primary healthcare setting
  • Competent in core skills such as cervical screening, contraception, childhood immunisations, vaccines, staple and suture removal and wound care, along with respiratory experience with Asthma and COPD
  • Good understanding of infection prevention control with primary care
  • Experience with SystmOne and great organisational skills
  • An understanding of diabetes is desirable
