This secondment opportunity offers an exciting role for a Practice Development Nurse to support newly registered nurses/midwives (NRNs) as they transition from student to confident practitioners within Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB.
The post focuses on delivering and enhancing preceptorship programmes, ensuring NRNs receive structured, supportive development during their early career. This includes facilitating learning opportunities, refining clinical skills, and promoting safe, evidence-based practice.
A key element of the role is providing restorative clinical supervision, creating a supportive environment where NRNs can reflect on their experiences, build resilience, and develop professional confidence. The post holder will work collaboratively with clinical teams, education leads, and senior nurses to ensure a consistent and high-quality transition experience across the Health Board.
This role is ideal for an experienced nurse/midwife with a passion for education, workforce development, and supporting the next generation of practitioners.

Main duties of the job
Support Preceptorship Programme Delivery Support the development, implementation, and evaluation of preceptorship programmes for newly registered nurses/midwives (NRNs), ensuring alignment with Health Board and national standards.
Facilitate Transition to Practice Support NRNs in progressing from student to autonomous practitioner, building confidence, competence, and accountability.
Clinical Skills Development Provide education, coaching, and supervised practice to promote safe, effective, evidence-based care.
Restorative Clinical Supervision Deliver supervision sessions that promote wellbeing, reflection, resilience, and emotional support.
Education and Training Delivery Design and deliver teaching sessions, workshops, and simulation-based learning tailored to NRN needs.
Practice Support and Visibility Maintain a visible clinical presence, offering guidance and modelling best practice.
Collaboration and Partnership Working Work with ward managers, preceptors, educators, and universities to ensure consistent support.
Assessment and Feedback Monitor NRN progress, provide feedback, and support competency completion.
Quality Improvement and Evaluation Contribute to audit and continuous service improvement.
Promote Professional Standards Uphold NMC standards and deliver compassionate, person-centred care.

- Experience of Nursing Practice.
- Experience of delivering presentations/teaching on formal and informal education programmes
- Experience of undertaking an action plan with training outcomes.
- Experience of undertaking training needs analysis and formulating development plans

Qualifications and knowledge

- Registered Nurse/ Degree in field
- Specialist knowledge of Mentorship, Education and Development Practice to postgraduate Diploma level
- Experience of being a Practice Assessor and Practice Supervisor
- Evidence of ongoing professional development.

- Teaching qualification
- Experience of teaching in a clinical environment.
Aptitude and Abilities Skills

- Standard keyboard skills with ability to use Microsoft Office Packages eg.Word, EMail and Excel.
- Excellent role model both in clinical and professional capacity.
