People Advisor

Full time, 37.5 hours per week

We’re looking for a proactive and supportive People Advisor professional to join our team, acting as a trusted partner to colleagues, managers, and Trade Unions alike. In this role, you’ll build strong relationships, coach and mentor managers, and provide person-centred advice that balances people needs with organisational goals.

You’ll play a key role in helping managers grow their skills, embedding St Anne’s values, and ensuring our people feel supported throughout their journey. Using data insights, you’ll identify opportunities for improvement and deliver innovative, future-focused solutions that make a real difference.

Main duties of the job

As a People Advisor you will, coach, guide, and provide flexible and expert employee relations advice, to line managers and colleagues on all aspects of people practices which enhance the employee and line manager experience. Ensuring compliance with policies, employment law and regulations with consideration to risk and business performance.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Stakeholder Engagement: As an ambassador for People group, actively build positive and professional relationships across the business with all colleagues, including Trade Unions. Coach, guide, and mentor managers to grow their capability and confidence to ensure understanding of key issues and to develop flexible solutions to People issues. Employee Relations: Maintain and promote positive TU relations through the provision of consistent, high quality, advice and guidance to managers on a range of people issues. Ensuring compliance with employment law and St Anne’s policy, take a pragmatic approach to case management, with consideration to organisational risks.

Challenging Moments: Work closely with the People Partners, to proactively deliver future-focused, person-centred, advice and guidance to managers on the delivery of innovative and creative ER solutions on the full range of employee issues. Life Events: Alongside the People Partners, contribute to the development and implementation of employee lifecycle policies and procedures, enabling managers to take an approach which is person-centred and forward thinking, within a framework of accountable risk management and decision making.

Performance Management: Coach and guide managers and teams to ensure behaviour is aligned to St Anne’s values; enabling managers to deal successfully with people management issues, developing their capability in effective performance management and employee engagement. Data-Driven Insights: Use MI, to identify and address the root cause of issues to develop targeted interventions and support decision making. Identifying the development needs and opportunities of managers, to enable them to own and lead their own People management. Service Delivery: Deliver a consultancy style People service to business areas as required, ensuring service level agreements are met, systems are maintained and that the required standards of service and performance and continuous improvement are demonstrated at all times. Change Management: Working with the People Partners, provide future-focused advice, guidance and support to managers on the delivery of innovative and creative change management processes which anticipate and meet changing workforce requirements. Organisational Development: Contribute to the delivery of People projects and OD initiatives, contributing to the design and delivery of workshops to educate and coach managers for the success of self service and increased ER knowledge and people management skills in line with the business strategy.

Applicant requirements

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

Experience

Essential

  • The experience to deliver the role, with or without qualifications, applying people policies and processes in a large, complex organisation.
  • Experience of coaching and training managers on ER issues, consulting with representatives and managing relationships with Trade Unions to resolve problems and see things through to conclusion.

  • Membership of the CIPD (MCIPD) or an equivalent and relevant professional or academic qualification.
