We are looking for an experienced and passionate Patient Safety, Governance & Risk Manager to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and influence the delivery of high-quality patient safety, clinical governance, risk management and quality improvement across the organisation.
Main duties of the job
Working closely with The Head of Patient Safety, Governnace & Risk, and other senior clinical and operational leaders, you will play a pivotal role in embedding a positive safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving continuous improvement that enhances patient care.

Job responsibilities
- Lead and support the delivery of patient safety, clinical governance and quality improvement programmes.
- Promote a culture of openness, learning and continuous improvement.
- Oversee incident management in line with PSIRF principles, ensuring investigations are completed to a high standard and organisational learning is embedded.
- Produce high-quality governance, patient safety and risk reports for committees and senior leadership.
- Maintain oversight of governance systems, including Datix, and analyse trends to drive improvement.
- Lead the clinical audit programme and support departments in delivering measurable quality improvements.
- Provide expert advice on clinical risk management, governance and regulatory compliance.
- Work collaboratively with clinical leaders, managers and external stakeholders to strengthen governance across the organisation.
- Lead governance-related projects and implement sustainable improvements.
Person specification
Experience
Essential
- Degree-level education or equivalent professional qualification.
- Experience leading patient safety, governance or quality improvement programmes.
- Strong knowledge of clinical governance, risk management and healthcare regulation.
- Experience investigating serious incidents and supporting organisational learning.
- Excellent data analysis and reporting skills, including Microsoft Excel.
- Experience working with governance systems such as Datix.
- Outstanding relationship-building, facilitation and project management skills.
