Job overview

You will work with, coordinate and support the faster diagnosis CNS and pulmonary nodule CNS as well as working with the wider MDT, to support patients who are referred into the lung nursing team. You will be responsible for facilitating and tracking patients referred into the faster diagnosis and pulmonary nodule service and supporting weekly respiratory/ oncology clinic.

This role is a combination of administration, clinic organisation, clinical team and patient support. The role requires excellent organisation, coordination of multiple resources and administrative skills. You will need excellent interpersonal skills – to ensure accurate verbal and written communication with a wide range of healthcare professionals both inside and outside of the Trust.

Main duties of the job

  • Monitor and receive patient referral notifications, by telephone and email, and alert the Clinical Team. Respond accordingly to enquiries.
  • Co-ordinate and provide administrative support to ensure that all the relevant referral paperwork (from primary and secondary care sources) and clinical information is available within the necessary timescale for each patient appointment.
  • Book all appointments and investigations as needed.
  • Identify from the Tracking List the next steps in the patient care pathway and provide administrative support to monitor investigation results, alert the Clinical Team and schedule patient follow-up appointments.
