Pathway Coordinator – Waiting List Team (Paediatrics)
An opportunity has arisen to join our Paediatric Waiting List Team as a Pathway Coordinator. This is a part-time, 30-hour substantive post.
This is a key operational role within the team, supporting the management of elective surgical pathways and ensuring patients receive timely treatment in line with RTT standards.
Closing date of applications: 01st July 2026
Interview date: 15th July 2026
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for the proactive management of paediatric surgical waiting lists from the point of decision to admit through to treatment. This includes coordinating admissions, booking theatre dates, arranging pre-operative assessments and liaising closely with Consultants, theatre teams and ward staff to support effective patient flow.
The role requires you to monitor waiting lists, identify patients approaching RTT targets, and escalate capacity issues where required. You will use strong communication, negotiation and organisational skills to support clinical prioritisation and optimise theatre list utilisation.
You will act as a key point of contact for patients, families and clinical teams, ensuring queries are handled professionally, sensitively and efficiently. Accurate data input across Trust systems, including Lorenzo and ORMIS, will also form a core part of the role.
This is a busy and demanding position, requiring a flexible and team-focused approach. You will be expected to work collaboratively with colleagues and provide cross-cover across specialities when required to maintain service continuity.
A good understanding of RTT pathways and the Trust Patient Access Policy is advantageous. You should have strong IT skills and experience in a patient-focused administrative role, ideally within the NHS. Knowledge of Lorenzo and ORMIS would be beneficial, although full training will be provided
