If the answer is yes, then apply for one of our Band 5 Staff Nurse positions on Daisy Ward.  These positions are suitable for nurses who have completed their preceptorship.

Daisy ward is a 10 bedded unit including a 6 bedded Neurosurgical, Trauma and Burns High Dependency Unit and a 4 bedded Burns Unit. For Burns we are the regional centre covering the entire south west of the U.K.  We are also the regional Paediatric Major Trauma Centre with many of these patients treated on the High Dependency Unit.

Ideal candidates will:

  • Be able to demonstrate excellent inter-personal and communication skills
  • Have the ability to forge and maintain relationships with a variety of clinical and non-clinical staff.
  • Have the ability to manage a busy workload and to prioritise, quickly find solutions and to focus on the important issues when decision making is essential.

Interview will take place week beginning 13th July.

Essential

  • Demonstrate competence in clinical skills relevant to the clinical area
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, able to communicate effectively with patients, carers and MDT
  • Computer skills
  • Competence in calculations for safe administration of medicines/fluids
  • Ability to take the lead, initiate and ensure appropriate action in response to the deteriorating patient
  • Clinical decision making ability

  • Ability to work with minimum supervision

  • Self motivated
  • A team player
  • Recognition of own limits

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Broad knowledge and experience of clinical nursing practice within a hospital environment
  • Interest in the clinical area

  • Experience of taking charge
  • Experience of teaching

Training & Qualifications

Essential

  • RSCN/ RN child branch (NMC registered) or equivalent
  • Current NMC registration

Desirable

  • Work towards relevant university accredited post basic study programmes e.g. teaching and assessing course
