Job overview
The post holder acts as the Trust focus for Overseas Visitors, ensuring that maximum overseas visitor income is recovered for the Trust through a mixture of direct patient contact and through the support of other staff within the Trust. The post holder will use their knowledge and expertise to determine the patient’s eligibility for free NHS care. In order to do this, the Overseas Visitors Officer will be required to interview the patient in order to establish eligibility according to NHS England Guidance, and then collate detail on any treatment planned or provided, generate final invoices and secure payment. The role entails organising and delivering training for divisional staff across the Trust when necessary. The post holder will be one of the Trust's primary key contacts with other Trust organisations across the country, as well as liaise with border agency and NHS England teams.
Main duties of the job
1- To implement the NHS Charging Regulations which cover the management of overseas visitors treated at this Trust as well as procedures relating to overseas visitors’ income. You will ensure developments are in line with current and new legislation.
2- To provide patients and staff with knowledge and guidance regarding overseas visitors’ regulations.
3-The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that all overseas visitors attending the hospital are identified, as well as identifying overseas visitors who are not eligible for free NHS treatment.
4- The post holder will be accountable for accurately recording, costing, and billing all overseas patient activity. This includes producing invoices on time for all overseas visitors' patients and being aware of various charging tariffs to maximise the Trust's income from overseas patients.
5- The post holder will implement a robust credit control process, actively seek payments, and follow up on outstanding debts in order to facilitate credit control collection recovery from overseas patients.

- 2- Ability to handle sensitive conversation with patient and families, often under pressure
- 3- Understanding of eligibility, exemption, chargeable categories and compliance requirements
- 4- Confident working with clinicians, admin teams and external bodies.
Desirable
- Previous Experience in OVS or Patient Administration
- Understanding of billing processes, debt management, or income recovery within healthcare
- Ability to work effectively with patients from different countries, cultures, and backgrounds.
