Job summary

The Outpatient Department is often a patients first experience of the hospital of St John and St Elizabeth. We aim to deliver first class standards of care where the patient is at the heat of every decision.

Main duties of the job

We have a good team who strive to deliver our vision and values every day. The department has 25 consulting rooms with equipment specific to the various specialties we support and is in spacious, comfortable surroundings. We offer all staff the opportunity to support various specialty clinics and we have a minor procedure room where we undertake some further procedures under local anaesthetic.

Job responsibilities

  • To maintain confidentiality surrounding patient admission and treatment at all times. To ensure documentation is completed accurately and within agreed timescales using Hospital approved documentation, in line with NMC and Hospital guidelines. To have knowledge of and adhere to ward and Hospital policy and professional standards. To ensure that team members do likewise. To ensure the provision of excellent, evidence-based nursing care for patients. Ensure that each patient is assessed, and that their care is planned, implemented and evaluated, and that this is accurately documented. Participate in effective communication between all members of the multidisciplinary team, other hospital departments, relatives and visitors. Ensure quality care is given, by being familiar with agreed standards of care and to inform seniors, if the required standard cannot be reached.
