In this varied and vital role, you’ll be the first point of contact for patients, providing essential clerical and administrative support. From handling telephone enquiries and greeting patients at reception, to booking and managing appointments, you’ll play a key part in ensuring a smooth and positive patient experience.

Main duties of the job
Within this role you will greet and support patients attending outpatient areas, ensuring a welcoming and professional first point of contact. Confirm patient details directly with individuals and maintain accurate, up‑to‑date records on all relevant computer systems. Manage telephone and face‑to‑face enquiries efficiently, delivering a confidential, respectful and patient‑focused service at all times. Arrange interpreting services when required to support effective communication and patient understanding. Complete clinic cash‑up procedures accurately at the end of each session and ensure patient notes are tracked and handled correctly in line with organisational procedures.

Essential
- Previous experience using a computer, phone, email and administration systems
- Demonstrable customer service experience
- Working with the public
- Good typing skills
Desirable
- NHS experience
- Knowledge and understanding of databases – EPR, EMR, Clinic Letters, Bighand
- Understanding of Medical terminology
- Understanding of NHS 18 weeks standards
Qualifications
Essential
- Good educational standard of at least 2 GCSE’s, in Maths, English or Equivalent
