We are looking for someone to join our dedicated Outpatient Reception team, You will book appointments, manage patient schedules, and provide exceptional service to our patients, families, and colleagues.

Educated to GCSE level or equivalent experience, you’ll have great organisational skills and the ability to handle a busy workload.  Experience working in an administrative or reception role is essential.

Main duties of the job

Reporting into the Outpatient Supervisor, your responsibilities will include:

  • Book and manage appointments according to Trust standards.
  • Engage with patients, visitors, and staff, demonstrating empathy and professionalism
  • Perform administrative tasks, including filing referrals, sorting post, and scanning documents.
  • Handle phone calls, emails, and book services such as interpreters and transport.
  • Greet visitors and provide necessary information at the reception desk.
  • Provide support for other roles during absence and suggest improvements for service delivery.

Experience

Essential

  • Clerical and or reception work experience gained from working within a public facing environment
  • Experience of working in a team environment

Desirable

  • Significant clerical and or reception experience gained within the NHS - ideally a patient administration department within a hospital setting
  • Experience of in-patient, out-patient or waiting list management

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent

Desirable

  • GCSE in Mathematics/English Language
  • NVQ Level 2 – Customer Care
  • NVQ Level 2 – Administration or equivalent acquired experience

  • Ability to communicate sensitively with children, young people, and their families
