An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Occupational Therapist to lead within the Coventry Integrated Neighbourhood Teams.
As Occupational Therapy Lead, you will work within the community pathways, supporting the team to deliver specialised occupational therapy to individuals with a wide range of complex needs. The role involves supporting people predominantly in their place of residence, with a focus on reducing unnecessary hospital admissions and enabling safe, effective community-based care.
We are currently in the process of transforming community services in Coventry aligning with the NHS national priorities of shifting care from hospitals to communities and the implementation of Integrated Neighbourhood Teams. Delivering holistic support for complex needs, preventing admissions through early intervention, and using digital tools to improve health outcomes and tackle inequalities. This involves multi-disciplinary teams working together locally to embed joined-up care, reducing hospital demand, and empowering communities for better prevention and access.

Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
Main duties of the job
- Work as an integral part of the Integrated Neighbourhood Team alongside team leads and service leads to ensure high standards of service delivery.
- Support the team to plan and implement evidence-based, patient-centred treatment in collaboration with patients, carers, multidisciplinary colleagues, and external agencies. Providing clinical support, expertise and guidance as required.
- Triage, streaming and prioritisation of referrals into the Integrated Neighbourhood Team. Leading case allocation, liaising with wider system colleagues and external partners, providing professional challenge and advice for routine and urgent cases as required.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Chairing weekly multi-disciplinary team meetings with the wider service and external care providers. Support with clinical reasoning, ensuring system flow and highlighting blocks to case progression.
- Provide clinical supervision, support, training, and development for occupational therapy staff, as well as wider team development.
- Lead on occupational therapy quality improvement, service development, and innovation initiatives.
- Collaborate with team and service leads to advise on occupational therapy needs and contribute to integrated clinical pathway development.
- Ensure accurate and timely data entry, maintaining professional standards and continuous professional development.
- Work closely with adult social care and third-sector providers to deliver safe, effective care.
- Support Service Leads with day-to-day service management and contribute to monitoring and evaluation of service effectiveness.
- Support timely response and investigation of incidents and complaints as required, taking forward actions and learning opportunities as required.

As the group is currently trialling a new Integrated Neighbourhood Team (INT) model following a collaborative event with internal and external stakeholders. This pilot is currently exploring team structures and assessing the impact on patient experience.

- • Evidence of working in a multidisciplinary team • Evidence of effective caseload management. • Experience of supervising registered and/or non-registered staff (including students) • Experience of involvement in service evaluation and audit. • Experience with a range of standardised assessments • Evidence of experience at Band 6 level or equivalent supporting information

Qualifications
Essential
- • BSc Occupational Therapy (or equivalent). • Current Registration with Health and Care Professions Council without restriction. • Post graduate learning to Masters level or equivalent experience.
