An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 5 staff nurse to join our growing obstetric theatre team

The Band 5 Staff Nurse in Maternity Theatres and Recovery provides safe, high‑quality care to women and their babies within obstetric theatres and the maternity high‑dependency/recovery area. The role involves supporting women before, during and after operative procedures, delivering enhanced monitoring when required, and working collaboratively with midwives and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure effective and compassionate care.

The post holder assists with theatre preparation, transfer of women to and from theatre, and post‑operative recovery care. Following appropriate training, the nurse undertakes the role of scrub nurse in maternity theatres and supports procedures such as administration of spinal analgesia in collaboration with midwives. The role also includes assisting with postnatal care, record keeping, infection prevention, equipment safety, and stock management.

The post supports education, service efficiency and continuous improvement by contributing to staff training, audits, and maintaining professional standards in line with NMC requirements and Trust policies.
