About the Role:An exciting opportunity for an experienced General Practice Nurse looking to take the next step into a leadership role, or for an established Nurse Team Lead seeking a new challenge.
Whilst maintaining a clinical role, the primary focus of this position is to lead, support and develop our nursing team, ensuring high standards of patient care, clinical governance and operational efficiency across all four practice sites.
Working closely with the Practice Management Team and GP Partners, you will help drive quality improvement, support workforce development and ensure the nursing service continues to deliver safe, effective and compassionate care.
Independent Prescribing is desirable.
Main duties of the job
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & People Management
- Lead and manage the nursing team across all practice sites.
- Support, mentor and develop nurses and healthcare assistants.
- Conduct one-to-one meetings, appraisals, performance and return-to-work meetings.
- Support recruitment, induction and staff retention.
- Promote staff wellbeing and continuous professional development.
- Work with the Practice Management Team to ensure effective workforce planning and service delivery.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care within general practice.
- Support patients with long-term conditions, including diabetes, hypertension and respiratory disease.
- Undertake health assessments and reviews.
- Administer childhood and adult immunisations and vaccinations.
- Provide cervical screening (where appropriately trained).
- Offer lifestyle and travel health advice.
- Assess and manage wounds.
- Support nurse-led clinics and health promotion initiatives.
- Practise in accordance with the NMC Code.
Clinical Governance & Quality
- Ensure compliance with CQC standards, national guidance and practice policies.
- Support achievement of Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) targets.
- Maintain Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) standards.
- Ensure clinical protocols are followed and kept up to date.
- Participate in audits, quality improvement and service development.
- Contribute to practice meetings and promote patient safety and safeguarding.

Job Purpose
The Nurse Team Lead is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients while leading and supporting the nursing team across MyHealth's four practice sites. The post holder will ensure safe, effective and patient-centred care, promote professional development within the team, and support the delivery of practice objectives, quality standards and regulatory compliance.
The role combines clinical practice with leadership responsibilities, ensuring the nursing service operates efficiently and in line with current legislation, national guidance and practice policies.
- Provide day-to-day leadership and operational management of the nursing team.
- Support, mentor and develop Registered Nurses and Healthcare Assistants.
- Foster a positive, supportive and collaborative working environment.
- Conduct one-to-one meetings, annual appraisals, performance reviews and return-to-work meetings.
- Identify training and development needs and support Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
- Assist with recruitment, induction and retention of nursing staff.
- Support effective workforce planning and ensure appropriate clinical cover.
- Monitor nursing workloads and support the efficient delivery of clinical services.
- Work closely with the Practice Manager and GP Partners to support service development and quality improvement.
