Job summary
The purpose of this role is to promote the role of clinical safety within the Nexus EPR Programme, helping to build a safety focussed culture within nursing. This will be achieved by ensuring that the Trust is compliant with the NHS clinical risk management DCB0160 standard deployment and use of health IT systems. The post holder will be responsible and accountable for ensuring that safety is maintained during the implementation of the upcoming EPR programme, in order to support the Trusts digital roadmap. As part of this informatics role, the staff member may wish to work toward being a Clinical Safety Officer (CSO). and can support other team members within the NEXUS clinical safety workstream. It is anticipated that around 80% of the job holders time will be supporting Nursing and 20% on other specialties (This will flex with workload).
The post holder may carry out clinical risk management activities, including the identification, assessment and mitigation of clinical risks during system implementation, modification or decommissioning.
Main duties of the job
During this secondment the post holder will:
Plan and undertake clinical risk management activities for the new EPR programme, working with the Trust Clinical Information Officers to develop a well evidenced safety case which supports delivery of the programme and a long-term operational framework for clinical risk management within the system. The post Holder will have clinical credibility and be a registered nurse.
Serve as the principal nursing advisor to the CNIO and Deputy Chief Nurse in support of achieving the Trusts information needs and Digital and Nursing strategic objectives.
Utilise data and the prevailing evidence to support the improvement of clinical workflows across the organisation, communicating these effectively to nursing staff to secure adoption of new processes.
Serve as an expert to communicate nursing and healthcare trends and issues at the local, regional and/or national level.
Promote a culture of managed change and clinical governance standards at all levels of the organisation.
Be responsible for ensuring that configured nursing documentation, workflows and pathways are properly validated, by suitably qualified staff and that all changes are ratified before being deployed into clinical systems.

Qualifications
Essential
- UK Registered Healthcare Professional
- Postgraduate Diploma (or equivalent experience) in Clinical Informatics, Leadership, Clinical Practice or an alternative associated field
- Nursing Degree
- Evidence of Masters level education or be able to demonstrate ability to work at this level.
Desirable
- FEDIP Practitioner
- NHS England Digital Clinical Safety Practitioner (or equivalent)
