As a key member of the Cancer Education Hub team, you will provide high-quality administrative, financial and organisational support to the Cancer Education Lead, helping to deliver innovative education and workforce development programmes across cancer services. The role involves coordinating training courses, educational events and academic modules delivered in partnership with the University of Plymouth, managing communications with learners and stakeholders, and ensuring the smooth running of educational activities. You will also be responsible for raising purchase orders, processing and tracking invoices, maintaining accurate financial records, monitoring payments and supporting budget administration to ensure effective governance of educational programmes. Through excellent organisation, attention to detail and strong communication skills, you will play a vital role in supporting the development of a skilled and compassionate cancer workforce and the continued success of the Cancer Education Hub.

Main duties of the job
The primary function for this role is to provide support to the Oncology Education / Management Team within the Mustard Tree. This includes all administrative duties for the Oncology Modules which is run in conjunction with the University of Plymouth, all educational events for staff and patient events, and other projects that present. It will entail providing a comprehensive and high level administration service to enable all agendas to be delivered.
The post holder will be expected to provide an effective, comprehensive and confidential range of administrative / secretarial tasks to ensure the smooth running of the oncology module, educational sessions and committee events and associated responsibilities. They will also be expected to be present at some of the events.
To co-ordinate community based patient support groups working collaboratively with community organisations to deliver an equitable service for patients.
In addition the post holder will work as a member of the team in a flexible and co-operative way, providing support for other members of the team, including but not exclusively the Mustard Tree Manager.
To create and maintain effective working relationships at all levels, internal and external to the Trust and be accountable for own actions, with the relevant manager available for reference.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Act as the main point of contact for the education team dealing with all staff, stakeholders, and members of the public.
- To administer meetings within the portfolio of the team, including tracking agenda requirements, taking minutes and progressing issues on their behalf.
- Manage all communications on behalf of the Oncology Education Team including; post and email correspondence and take telephone calls ensuring that matters are redirected and delegated appropriately. Ensure all matters that do not require the personal attention of the Programme and Project leads are dealt with appropriately; track and chase responses to a timely conclusion.
- Manage the diaries of the Oncology Education Team. Set up meetings involving a wide range of senior staff in the Trust as well as partner organisations and other stakeholders.
- Deal with confidential correspondence and reports and be responsible for maintaining the integrity and accuracy of any such information held on file. Treat such matters with discretion and sensitivity, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
- Keep abreast of the fast paced and pressurised agenda of the Oncology Education Team to maintain a sense of control over day to day operations.
- Maintain high levels of IT skills to support the project in developing material and resources required to communicate the messages for the Oncology Education Team to other stakeholders and the wider community.
- Collate data and produce reports, charts and graphs as relevant to allow analysis.
