
Job summary
Ongar Health Centre is excited to welcome a Medical Secretary to the team on a part-time basis for 25 hours per week working Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 10:00am 4:30pm with a 15 minute break each day.
Main duties of the job
- Working methodically and accurately with the ability to self-motivate, organise and prioritise own workload.
- Liaising with external agencies such as hospitals and community services, ensuring referrals are processed efficiently
- Liaising with patients about their referral
- Maintaining an accurate referrals database
- Actioning all incoming email relating to Referrals
- Inputting data into the patients healthcare records as necessary
- Processing referrals using the electronic referral system (ERS)
- Answering incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately
- Managing all administrative queries as necessary, sending expedite letters to hospitals
- Supporting all clinical staff with general administrative tasks as requested
- Generating referrals on behalf of a clinician and sending patient relevant paperwork with their appointment or UBRN number to be able to book their own appointment
- Sending off Dexa referrals on behalf of a clinician
- Dealing with ASD/ADHD paperwork, ensuring forms are completed for a GP to then be able to check and sign off
- Monitoring worklists and sending responses to clinicians and hospitals
- Franking of outgoing post

We are a large, busy training practice, serving a patient population of 12,700 and operating from purpose built premises.
We use SystmOne clinical system and are rated Good with CQC.
