Main duties of the job
As a Medical Secretary your main duties will cover:
- Medical audio transcription of clinical correspondence;
- Carry out administrative instructions dictated in the correspondence including booking appointments via the Booking and Scheduling Department;
- Update NPSA16 investigation tracker following transcription of correspondence;
- Deal with internal and external telephone enquiries from patients, staff and external agencies;
- Undertake routine office duties including printing, scanning and filing;
- Organising your workload to meet our KPI’s.

- Be able to prioritise your workload effectively;

- Have an excellent eye for detail;
- Be confident using a computer and Microsoft Office;
- Have an excellent telephone manner;
- Be able to communicate effectively and manage patient expectation;

Qualifications

- Word processing - Qualified to RSA III/NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification/demonstrable skills (60+ wpm at 98% accuracy

- AMSPAR Medical Secretarial Diploma
- City and Guilds Certificate in Medical Terminology, or equivalent demonstrable skills/experience
- ECDL or equivalent qualification
