Job summary
We are seeking a friendly, organised and professional Medical Secretary to join our busy GP Practice. The role is for 17 hours per week and the work pattern will be:
Monday: 13.00 to 17.30
Tuesday: 08.00 to 17.00
Thursday: 13.00 to 17.00
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will provide high-quality administrative and secretarial support to our clinical team, ensuring the smooth coordination of patient referrals, correspondence, and medical records.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong communication skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Job responsibilities
Main responsibilities:
- Type letters, reports and associated documentation as required.
- Liaise with external agencies such as hospitals and community services, ensuring referrals are processed efficiently and in the required format.
- Manage all enquiries in an effective manner
- Manage and action all incoming emails
- Accurately input and update data in the patient's healthcare records as necessary
- Process referrals using the electronic referral system (ERS)
- Answer incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers/patients queries appropriately
- Manage all administrative queries as necessary including Docman and EMIS tasks and rapid access and reports.
- Run system searches including ERS Worklists, and report on outstanding referrals, ensuring patient records and referring GPs are kept up to date.
- Process and transcribe orthopaedic clinic dictations on Lexacom
- Support all clinical staff with general administration tasks as requested.
