Main duties of the job

Join our team in the Ophthalmology Service at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust as a Band 3 Medical Secretary. This is a full-time position (37.5 hours per week) based at St James's University Hospital, where you will provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to consultants and clinical teams. You will play an important role in delivering a high-quality service, helping to ensure patients receive the best possible care. As part of one of the UK's largest NHS teaching trusts, you will be joining a supportive team committed to delivering The Leeds Way. What you will bring to the role

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has previous secretarial or administrative experience, ideally within a healthcare setting.
  • Has excellent organisational skills and can effectively manage a busy and varied workload.
  • Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills when working with patients, colleagues and external organisations.
  • Has a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Is confident using Microsoft Office and other computerised systems, with the ability to learn new software.
  • Can prioritise competing demands while meeting deadlines.
  • Works well both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Maintains confidentiality and handles sensitive information with professionalism.
  • Has a positive, flexible and proactive approach to work.
  • Is committed to providing a high standard of administrative support and excellent patient service.
