Job summary

Mayflower Medical Centre, in Harwich, is looking to recruit an organised and experienced medical secretary to our team. The role is being offered on a part-time basis, for 30 hours per week.

Main duties of the job

The main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Providing a full secretarial service including the typing of letters, reports, patient referrals, meeting minutes, memorandums, etc.
  • Handling queries regarding hospital appointments and treatments.
  • Ensuring that any requests for information are appropriately dealt with and that all subsequent charges are invoiced appropriately.
  • Arranging meetings (to include the booking of rooms) as required.
  • Designing template letters and forms for use throughout the practice.
  • Maintaining the clinical system, in an accurate and secure manner.
  • Assisting with the gathering of statistics and information.

We are a friendly, well-organised training practice, looking after 17,600 patients in an impressive purpose-built GP surgery, located within a community hospital, in the seaside town of Harwich in Essex.

  • Strong administrative experience and good organisation skills.

  • Understanding of the need to maintain confidentiality and data security, at all times.
  • Ability to multi-task and to work accurately under pressure.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently.
