Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Haematology Department at Bexley Wing, St James's Hospital, as a Medical Secretary. We are recruiting for two full-time vacancies (37.5 hours per week) to support the Haematology, Haemophilia, Thrombosis and VTE services.
Main duties of the job
Working closely with Consultants, medical staff, specialist nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality secretarial and administrative support, including audio typing, proofreading clinical correspondence, coordinating MDT meetings, managing patient pathways and maintaining accurate patient records.
The successful candidates will have excellent organisational and communication skills, with experience of secretarial or administrative work, audio typing and Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of patient administration systems, such as PAS/PPM, is desirable. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive team committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care to patients across Leeds and beyond. The Haematology Department is based within the Bexley Wing at St James’s University Hospital, one of the UK's leading centres for the treatment and management of malignant and non-malignant blood disorders. The service provides specialist care across a wide range of conditions, including haematological cancers, haemostasis and thrombosis, haemophilia, and venous thromboembolism (VTE), serving patients from Leeds and the wider Yorkshire region.

The service forms part of the Oncology Clinical Service Unit (CSU), which includes Haematology, Medical and Clinical Oncology, Specialist Palliative Medicine, Breast and Endocrine Surgery, Thoracic Surgery and Gynaecological Oncology. Together, we provide expert care in a supportive and inclusive environment, dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of patients across Leeds and beyond
