Job overview

The Division of Surgery would like to invite applicants for a Band 3 post to join the Medical Secretary team within Trauma and Orthopaedics at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals.

One 30-hour position is available to support Consultant Surgeons and the wider clinical team. The successful post holder will be primarily based at Doncaster Hospital; however, there may be a requirement to work across both Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals in line with service needs.

They will need experience in managing the robust systems in place for the administrative engagement of patient pathways.  They will need to be able to work flexibly as part of the team - sometimes across sites - to produce clinical correspondence using Medisec digital transcription software from outpatient and inpatient attendances.

Experience in using the PTL (Patient Tracker List) to manage patient’s pathway is paramount. A knowledge of medical terminology alongside previous experience of working in a clerical / secretarial role is desirable.

You will be required to display tact and diplomacy, and have developed communication skills when dealing with senior staff, patients, colleagues and the general public.
