The Division of Medicine would like to invite applicants for a Medical Secretary role working to support the Rheumatology Clinical Administration team. This is an excellent opportunity to join the Admin Team here at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide an effective and efficient support service to clinical teams ensuring robust systems and processes are in place for overall administrative oversight and coordination of the patient through the relevant pathway.

  • Maintain a high standard of administrative support to the Rheumatology medical team ensuring that robust systems are in place for the efficient end to end patient pathway.
  • Ensure that digital transcriptions are managed timely in accordance with Trust expectation.
  • Provide secretarial support to the Rheumatology consultants, clinical teams and specialist nurses alongside the clinical typist/administrator

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience working in a clerical/administrative role
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of Microsoft packages including Word

Qualification and Training

Essential

  • Minimum of 3 GCSEs including English and Maths at Grade C or above or suitable equivalent qualification
  • RSA III or NVQ III or suitable equivalent level administrative qualification
  • ECDL or equivalent qualification / demonstrable experience

Desirable

  • Business Administration Level II Apprenticeship

  • Ability to assimulate new practices and knowledge
  • Ability to deal calmly and diplomatically with a range of personalities and situations
